Eczema is a type of chronic skin condition in which areas of your skin can become inflamed, itchy, and sore. While doctors have yet to unlock the deep secrets regarding the reasons behind eczema, they have plenty of good information that can help calm eczema flare-ups and prevent future ones.

Eczema is a common condition for which there are good natural remedies available. In fact, approximately one in 18 people (about 15 million or 5.5% of the population) have eczema in the US at any given period of time. It is a good idea to take charge of your health and to know as much as you can about this condition in order to know the natural eczema remedies that will work the best for you.

During the holidays, many people travel and can come into substances that are not tolerated by one's system leading to an allergic response such as eczema. If you have allergies in your family or a history of eczema, it's important to be vigilant to avoid skin reactions due to intolerance. When you are travelling you can be in contact with many unfamiliar settings.

For instance, you may be staying in someone's home. Some children as well as adults can get eczema types of eruptions from pet dander. Sensitive people may also react to linen washed in certain detergents. If you didn't pack your own toiletries you may be using different soaps, shampoos, conditioners and other personal care items that don't agree with your system. Allergic responses can be respiratory types of symptoms as well as skin bumps and patches.

The eczema creams on the market today can be used for both skin hydration and to reduce inflammation and most eczema creams will give relief from irritation and discomfort almost immediately. They are usually manufactured according to the highest pharmaceutical standards.

Home Remedies for Eczema

- Applying the juice of the wild almond (Terminalia catapa) on the affected parts provides relief.

- An emulsion can be made with the seeds of the karanja (Pongamia pinnata) and lemon juice. This is very beneficial if applied externally.

- An ointment is prepared using one part of sesame oil, sixteen parts of arka (Calatropics gigantica) and one part of turmeric. This should be applied externally.

- Prepare a brew of the peel of the banyan tree. Both drinking this brew and applying it externally over the affected parts show promising results.

Eczema is a general skin condition that is thought to be rooted in immune response. This general classification includes the many "triggers" that can bring on outbreaks of eczema. These triggers can be any element or environmental condition that a person may have allergic responses to. This can include allergic reactions to synthetic compounds, such as those found in cleaning products or other man-made solutions. It can also encompass airborne allergens, such as mold, pollen, or animal dander. Those whose skin is overly-sensitive to coarse fabrics such as wool often develop eczema. Even physical reactions to changes in air temperature can result in an outbreak of eczema. People who sweat excessively in warm weather or whose skin tends to dry out severely in colder temperatures can develop eczema, and especially eczema on hands.

Then some of the less common eczema types as follow:

Neurodermatitis: This is a continuous inflammation of the skin perpetuated by a vicious circle of itching and scratching. The distinguishing characteristic is the thick and leathery skin that develops after a long time. It is also known as lichen simplex chronicus.

Varicous Eczema: Poor blood circulation in the lower leg causes fluid to leak out of the veins and collect around the ankles causing edema and nutrient shortcomings in the skin which apparently leads to eczema in this area. The symptoms are the darkening of the skin, itch, redness, swelling, and in bad cases ulceration of the skin. This type of eczema is also called stasis eczema and gravitational eczema.

It is not true that everyone that has eczema has the same level of the disease because the severity of eczema can range quite a lot. Some people have a very mild form of eczema and one major symptom of mild eczema is dry itchy skin while severe cases of eczema can experience broken bleeding skin. Many people are bothered by looking at the eczema that some men and women have but do not be alarmed.

If you are looking for a cheap option to help your eczema then olive oil can be something you can try. It has now been widely accepted that olive oil is a very useful treatment with a large number of different benefits. Some of the uses of olive oil include eliminating itching, inflammation and also reducing the redness of the skin. If you have tried other things that have not worked then this is definitely worth a try.

Eczema does not have any single cure. Eczema cures are unique for every person. Different people use different treatments to treat eczema. These treatments include medicines and natural remedies. Eczema can not be completely cured but symptoms and severity can be reduced by using right treatment for you. Decision is up to you. You must recognize and select right treatment for you according to your skin type and other condition. Eczema can only reduce with use of proper medicines and simple modification in life style.

Treatment for Eczema

Immunosuppressant is a treatment for Eczema. Doctors use immunosuppressants when an individual with Eczema does not respond well to other forms or methods of treatments. Immunosuppressants are used to weaken the immune system, which sometimes cause dramatic improvements in the condition of the individuals Eczema. Individuals who undergo immunosuppressants are required to have frequent blood screenings and be checked by their doctor on a regular basis.
